Opening Reception Pics, "Fear" Exhibit, Libertytown Arts in Fredericksburg, Va

Hello Gentle Readers! (o:

We had a pleasant adventure this weekend at Libertytown Arts Center in Fredericksburg. We enjoyed touring the facility, which reminded us of the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, as it boasts resident artists in virtually every medium imaginable. So many beautiful things!

The "Fear" exhibit is a perfect Halloween outing for the art lover...there is much skillfully rendered creepiness to be enjoyed in this nationally juried exhibit. It runs through October 31, complete with "spooky" closing reception on that date. (o:

I have a few pics to share of the opening reception.

The reception was well attended.

Upcoming Exhibit: Nationally Juried Show, FEAR to open at Libertytown Art Center in October

Singin' in the Rain, retitled "Armageddon" for this show submission, has been selected to Libertytown Art Center's nationally juried exhibition titled "FEAR" in October, 2014.

The show promises artistic interpretations in the scariest Halloween tradition, described as "what makes your palms sweat, your stomach turn, and your heart race." I chose to submit this cheery little piece because it was inspired by human generated environmental disaster, moving slowly and hovering just out of sight. AKA, blissful ignorance to impending doom. I thought the satirical title "Singin' in the Rain" might obscure the relevance to the FEAR theme; thus the temporary nomenclature.

This is my first exhibit with Libertytown, and I am excited to have a piece selected!

Libertytown Art Center is Fredericksburg's Oldest Art Center, and is located at 916 Liberty Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
Call 540-371-7255 or visit www.libertytownarts.com/site/" for more information.

The FEAR exhibit opens on October 3rd and closes with a spooky closing reception on October 31.

Lucy In the Sky Receives Honorable Mention Award, Space and Form Show, FCCA

I was thrilled to learn that I would have a piece included in the national show, Space and Form, at the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts this March, and I was very excited to learn last night, that "Lucy in the Sky" was selected for Honorable Mention by juror, Jerry Shapiro of the Red Door Gallery in Richmond, Virginia. www.fccava.org/main_gal/3-14/"

The Space and Form show is open through the end of the month at FCCA, which is located in the heart of historic Fredericksburg. If you head down for a weekend jaunt, you'll find a wide variety of quality restaurants, galleries and shops, a beautiful park with paths alongside the river and an intimate, small town atmosphere.

Brad and I attended the opening reception last night, and we were swept up in a flurry of wonderful artwork and interesting conversation. The reception at FCCA was well attended by artists, collectors and appreciators of art of all kinds. I found myself chatting about everything from football to grand opera, and we truly had a wonderful time. Below are some pics of the occasion.
